Terms of service

1. Overview

Kinhub ("we", "us", or "our") is a family operating system served at kinhub.polsia.app. These terms of service govern your use of the Kinhub web application, the related account, notification, and email features, and any plan you purchase through the service.

This page is a template. It is structured to follow standard terms-of-service conventions so that a final, counsel-reviewed version is mostly a copy-and-rename exercise. Do not rely on the wording below as legal advice.

Nothing in this template supersedes any in-product notice, billing receipt, or specific agreement you have entered into with us. If this template and a specific agreement conflict, the specific agreement controls for the scope of that agreement.

2. Service description

Kinhub is offered in two tiers. The current authoritative description of each tier — and the only one that should be relied on for marketing or pricing claims — is published on /pricing. The summary below mirrors that page and may be updated as the offering evolves.

Free

• AI meal planning and dinner suggestions.
• Shared grocery lists across family members.
• Family calendar with date/time events and color coding.
• Chore tracking with point values and a completion history.
• Push reminders for up to 5 family members.
• $0 forever. No payment instrument required.

Pro (annual subscription)

• Everything in Free, plus:
• Unlimited family members (no cap on family size).
• School email parser: forward or paste school emails and Kinhub extracts the events and action items.
• AI weekly digest of upcoming events, meals, and chores.
• Priority sync and priority support.
• Advanced chore analytics across the family.
• $39/year, billed annually through the platform's Stripe Connect integration. No monthly billing option is offered.

3. Account responsibilities

To use Kinhub you must be an adult able to enter into a binding agreement in your jurisdiction. When you create an account you agree to:

• One account per person. Accounts are personal; do not share credentials between people.
• Accurate email. The email address on your account is how we reach you for security, billing, and important notices. Keep it current.
• Secure your password. Use a unique password and do not reuse it elsewhere.
• Use one-tap magic links safely. Magic-link tokens are issued via email for password-free re-authentication. Treat any link delivered that way as you would a password: it authenticates the holder as you.
• You are responsible for activity under your credentials. Anything done from your signed-in account is treated as your action, whether or not you authorized it.
• Family admin responsibility. If you create a family, you take on the role of family admin and are responsible for inviting and removing family_members rows. Removing a member revokes their access to family data.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use Kinhub to:

• Break any law or regulation that applies to you.
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the service, except as the law explicitly permits.
• Scrape the service at a rate that degrades it for other users.
• Submit content that infringes intellectual property rights, contains malware, or is intended to harm other users.
• Send unsolicited communications (spam) through or via the service, or use the service to harass, defame, or threaten others.

School-email parsing is provided to help you extract events and action items from messages you supply. You are responsible for the content of anything you submit to the parser, including ensuring you have the right to forward or paste school emails into Kinhub.

5. Billing and subscription terms

Pro is paid. The specifics below apply to anyone who upgrades.

Plan

Pro is an annual subscription at $39 per year (equivalent to roughly $3.25 per month). Checkout runs through the platform's Stripe Connect integration; the upgrade action in the app calls POST /api/checkout/pro-annual on the Polsia proxy.

Auto-renewal

Your Pro subscription auto-renews each year at the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date. By starting a Pro subscription you consent to recurring annual charges and authorize us (via the platform's Stripe Connect integration) to charge your payment method each year until you cancel.

Cancellation

You can cancel Pro at any time from account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period, and you keep Pro features until that period ends. Stripe's cancel_url for the upgrade flow points back to /pricing; the same destination is used when a checkout session is abandoned.

No prorated refunds

Fees paid for the current annual period are non-refundable, except where required by law. The in-app success page confirms Pro activation only — it does not promise partial refunds — and that behavior matches the language in this section.

Price changes

If we change the price of Pro, we will give active subscribers at least 30 days' notice by email before the change takes effect for the next billing period. Continued use after the new price takes effect is your acceptance of the new price.

Payment processing

Payments are processed by Stripe Connect through the Polsia platform proxy. Kinhub never stores full card numbers or bank credentials; only payment metadata handled by the platform's Stripe Connect integration reaches our systems.

Free tier

The Free tier is provided at $0/forever and requires no payment instrument. Kinhub may add reasonable usage limits to Free (for example, family-size caps or rate limits on AI features) with notice on /pricing; existing Free accounts will be given a reasonable transition period before any new limit is enforced.

6. Service changes and availability

Kinhub may modify, add, or remove features over time. For material changes — anything that meaningfully alters what users can do with the service — we will give reasonable notice through email, in-app notice, or both, before the change takes effect. Non-material changes (bug fixes, performance work, copy edits) may ship without notice.

We make reasonable efforts to keep the service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for downtime beyond what the law requires.

7. Intellectual property

• Kinhub retains rights to the service, the Kinhub brand and trademarks, the software, and any AI prompts or templates we provide.
• You retain rights to the family data you create (events, meals, grocery items, chores, parsed school emails). We use that data only to operate the service for you.
• AI-generated content (meal plans, dinner suggestions, weekly digests, AI summaries) is generated for you and your household when you ask for it. It is provided to you for personal household use; you may reproduce it within your household as needed.

8. Third-party services

Kinhub relies on the following third-party processors to operate. This list mirrors the one in our privacy policy and may be updated as our stack evolves:

• Polsia OpenAI proxy — meal-planning AI, school-email parsing, and AI summary features.
• Polsia Email proxy — transactional email (welcome, password reset, family invitations, re-engagement nudges).
• Polsia R2 — file storage for icons, artwork, and other static assets.
• Stripe / Stripe Connect (via Polsia) — payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
• Web Push (VAPID) — push notifications to your device using the web-push library.
• Neon — managed PostgreSQL hosting for our primary database.

9. Limitation of liability

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:

• Kinhub is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
• Kinhub is not liable for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business opportunity.
• For any claim relating to paid Pro features, Kinhub's aggregate liability is capped at the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
• Nothing in this section limits any liability that cannot be excluded by applicable law (for example, liability for fraud or for personal injury caused by negligence).

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and indemnify Kinhub against any third-party claim arising from content you submit to the service, family data you upload, or your use of the service in violation of these terms or any applicable law.

11. Termination

• By you. You may close your account at any time by request. Closing your account removes your account and any family you created from our active systems; you can ask for a copy of your data before deletion.
• By us. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate the Acceptable Use section, pose a security risk, or remain inactive for an extended period. Where reasonable, we will give advance notice before suspension or termination.

12. Governing law and disputes

This template assumes the jurisdiction of your choosing — confirm with counsel before publication. Disputes arising from these terms or your use of Kinhub will be resolved according to that governing law, unless a specific agreement between you and Kinhub says otherwise.

13. Changes to these terms

If we make material changes to these terms, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify active accounts by email or in-app notice before the change takes effect. Non-material edits (clarifications, typo fixes) may be made without notice.
